Update: Mid-September 2010

Before I could finish the reviews of the film and video game of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, I was thrown back into college and honestly forgot -- and keep forgetting -- about this site.  I hope to keep it updated as much as possible, but will make no more promises for deadlines as this is just a hobby for me not something I ought to stress over.

I still intend to complete those reviews but, if you are curious now, here is a short opinion:
Both the film and the game had much potential and do have redeeming aspects.  However, I cannot help but feel disappointed by them.

Also, this is just one of the three places I mainly post on the internet.  You can find an aggregation of all three at my tumblr:  http://chaddicus.tumblr.com/

Mantras and opinions.

I am currently working on the EDP Review Mantra, where I explain how my ratings work and why they work that way.

I am also working on the reviews for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (film) and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game (game, obviously) and should have them posted next week.

On Sale: Zeno Clash on XBLA.

The bizarre but brilliant first-person brawler, Zeno Clash, is 800 points (down from 1200) on Xbox Live Arcade this week.  That translates to $10 US or just under $13 CDN.

I have to let you know that the game is totally worth the full price, let alone this discounted one.  I wont get into details about the game here because I want to eventually review it, but I will say that it is one of those amazing things that you cannot put down once you pick it up and will stay with you for the rest of your life.  I mean, how many stories revolve around the assassination of a hermaphroditic bird-man named Father-Mother?  Yeah...

Also, it's really fun.

Designing a website is tricky. Patience. ^_^'

I know that I have no readers yet, so this entry asking for patience seems a little silly, but it keeps me posting, which is a good habit to get into.

Anyway, what I want to create with Every Dirty Pixel is a website, not just a blog, therefore I have to think about its design a little more.  First, reviews and opinions are to be a large part of this site.  I want to communicate to you and I want you to communicate back to me.  I also want to create pages based on the games, films, shows, books, whatever, that I feel need them.  Basically, I intend to create a small database of what is relevant to EDP; me, my readers, and whoever may join me in my quest.  As you can imagine, this takes a little time to plan out.

My first hurdle is space.  Blogger only allows the creation of 10 non-blog pages, which is far too few for a small database.  I do own my URL namesake and pay for hosting at www.chadzahara.com, which allows me unlimited space and data transfer, so I am thinking that I will create a hybrid of websites.  I can use the pages on Blogger as a jumping off point, i.e. a Games page for listing games, then putting all of the actual game pages on my personal site.  It may be a little disjointed, but it is a solution.

The next hurdle is finding a good editor to make pages with.  The pages do not need to be anything special, I prefer simplicity anyway, but they must fit within the design of Every Dirty Pixel, so no white background with black text pages created in TextEdit.  =P

Finally, I need content.  As I have mentioned in earlier entries, I am working on a few reviews and hope to get them up as soon as possible.  Stay tuned!

What to Expect: August 25 2010 Edition

All right, not yet existent readers, here is an update on the WtE I posted a few days ago.  All games I mentioned for review have been put on hold for the perfect inaugural review for Every Dirty Pixel, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game coupled with a review of the film.  I have yet to see the film, but after playing a couple stages of the game I have been convinced to go see it as soon as I can (hopefully in the company of a friend).

Now, I must mention, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game is not easy.  Also, the game allows for 4 player co-operative play, which I want to test, so the review may take a little while to write -- or as long as it takes to see the film, capture three friends for some co-op beat 'em up action, and actually beat the game.

On Sale: Tekken 6 for $9.89 at Canadian GameStop / EB Games.

Attention readers!  I was browsing around one of my local EB Games this morning and realized that the latest game in the wonderful Tekken series, Tekken 6, is on sale for $9.89, down from $29.99.  This is a week long sale, so don't wait, get this game!  For those of you with GameStop, it is the same store.

I have checked the American GameStop website and there is no mention of a sale for Tekken 6, so I am pretty sure this deal is only available in Canada.  And, as this is a new blog and no one really reads it yet, I doubt I will inspire anyone to go out an pick this amazing game up.  Still, I have benefited from the sale as I already had a copy on PS3 and now have a copy on 360, which means I can now play it with my MadCatz TE FightSticks!  Eeeeee!  ^_^

What to Expect: August 21 2010 Edition

Hello future readers!  This is the inaugural post of What to Expect, where I keep you informed on what is in the works for EDP.

Currently I am playing through these games for review:
Borderlands
Super Street Fighter IV
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
Final Fight: Double Impact

I have completed one playthrough of Borderlands, so I could write the review now, but the game does offer an enhanced second playthrough, so I do not feel totally fine writing about the game until I complete that.  Expect either the Borderlands or Super Street Fighter IV reviews first, with the rest of the games coming afterward.

Establishing signal...

Welcome to Every Dirty Pixel, a site by a writer who cares not to write about his work but about what he enjoys, namely video games and films, with the odd entry on television, music, and literature.

As I am in the act of setting up EDP, this entry is just a placeholder, so if you are at all interested in what I may have to say, come back soon!  ^_^
